Toward Rectifitying Adam’s Sin

Toward Rectifitying Adam’s Sin

The Torah is G-d speaking to us, and we must “listen” precisely to what G-d is trying to teach us. G-d commands Adam not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, Adam disobeys, and G-d punishes Adam (and mankind). We assume the Torah is communicating that obedience of man was G-d’s primary purpose for creation. This has become the axiomatic assumption of G-d’s intent with creation. There is a subtle difference between G-d requiring obedience and assigning this as the purpose. If we use obedience as an “axiom” of purpose we can misunderstand the Torah.

Destruction of the Temples

Destruction of the Temples

By torah • on November 2, 2008

here were two different corruptions committed, one by the Nation and one by Onan each one with a different method. The Nation had an action associated with it. As quoted by the[Orr Hachaim Shmos 32;7] כנגד המעשה אמר וישתחוו לו ויזבחו לו, אין לך מעשה גדול מזה “The action here was they bowed to it, and sacrificed to it, you can’t have a bigger action then this”, but Onan in his mind knew that he won’t go through this process like the pussuk says “And Onan knew that the seed would not be his” so what we have here are corruptions of an Action and a Thought.
